Mirabai’s father is a good employee in the public works department and her mother is a shopkeeper.

Chanu started her weightlifting career at the age of 14 years older.

Mirabai follows Kunjarani Devi. she told in an interview Kunjarani Devi is my inspiration for weightlifting.

In 2011, Chanu won gold medals at the “South Asian Junior Games” and the “International Youth Championship”.

In 2016, Chanu qualified for the “Rio Olympics” in the women’s 48 kg category.

In 2017, Chanu won the gold medal in the Women’s 48 kg category at the “World Weightlifting Championships” (U.S.A).

After a won the silver medal in Olympics in 2020, the Government of Manipur gives her ₹1 crore rupees gift.
